Pricing · Success-based

You pay for beneficiaries we find. Not for looking.

Risk-free for the fund: no upfront fee, no licence, no minimum. A success fee is charged only on beneficiaries traced and verified to the standard written into the engagement letter, with a cap per beneficiary on high-value claims. Contact-details-only tracing is priced per positive record.

01The model

Three ways an engagement is priced.

Tracing programme — success fee
A percentage of the benefit value of each beneficiary we trace and verify, invoiced when the administrator accepts the claim pack. Nothing is charged for records that do not reach the verification standard. The percentage is set in the engagement letter and quoted in writing for tenders.
Cap on high-value claims
The fee per beneficiary is capped at a fixed rand amount, agreed up front. On a large benefit the fee stops growing at the cap, so the model stays defensible to trustees and members alike.
Contact-details tracing — per record
Where you already know who the person is and only need their current address, phone number or employer, a flat rate per positive record, quoted on the batch size. No charge for records with no result. See contact details tracing.
02What is included

Everything a paid beneficiary needs to be paid.

  • Identity resolution against all 14 sources and Home Affairs verification of the final match.
  • Family lineage and dependant identification for deceased members (Section 37C).
  • Field tracing, including travel, in all nine provinces where the digital trail ends.
  • Consent, certified identity documents, the fund’s own claim and bank-details forms, completed and signed.
  • The claim pack and the immutable journal, exportable for trustees, the actuary and the FSCA.
  • An exceptions report for records that could not be resolved, with reasons.

Not included: the benefit itself. Payment always runs on the fund’s or administrator’s own rails. xverified never holds or handles beneficiary money.

03How it starts

A sample sweep under a short engagement letter.

Send us the shape of your book (record count, sector, how old the records are) and we return a one-page engagement letter: scope, POPIA processing terms, the verification standard, the percentage, the cap and the per-record rate. Once it is signed, you transfer a sample of around 5 000 dormant records and we report the recovery rate on that sample before you decide on a full programme.

Why success-based
Trustees owe a fiduciary duty to members; a fee that only exists when a member is actually found and verified aligns the tracing agent with that duty. It also makes the fund’s cost a fraction of money that would otherwise have stayed unclaimed.
Questions

Pricing questions

Is there an upfront or set-up fee?

No. A beneficiary tracing programme carries no set-up, licence or minimum fee. Costs are incurred only when a beneficiary is traced and verified to the standard in the engagement letter.

What counts as a successful trace?

The engagement letter defines it, and the usual standard is: identity verified with Home Affairs, current contact details confirmed, a bank account confirmed in the beneficiary's name, and the signed claim documents the fund needs to pay. A record that reaches that standard is billable; one that does not is not.

How does the cap work?

The success fee is a percentage of the benefit value, so on a very large benefit it would otherwise scale without limit. The engagement letter therefore fixes a maximum fee per beneficiary. Above that benefit value the fee stays flat.

Who pays the fee, the fund or the beneficiary?

The institution that engaged us. Beneficiaries are never charged, never asked for money and never asked for banking details by anyone other than the fund's own claim process, which we document in the claim pack.

What does contact-details tracing cost?

A flat rate per positive record, quoted on the batch size. Records where no current contact details are found are not charged. This is the right model when you already know who the person is and only need to reach them.

Can we run a sample before committing?

Yes. Every engagement starts with a scoped sample sweep, typically 5 000 dormant records, under a short engagement letter. It runs on the same terms as a full programme, so there is nothing to renegotiate when you scale up.

Will you publish a rate in a tender?

Yes. We quote the percentage, the cap and the per-record rate in writing for tenders and board packs, with the verification standard they attach to, so the fund can compare like with like.

We start with a scoped sample sweep under a short engagement letter, typically 5 000 dormant records, so you see the recovery rate before you commit to a full programme. You pay only for beneficiaries we trace and verify. See how pricing works.
